THE SCARY PART ABOUT GRADUATING
BY: Nathan Gentry
Graduation is right around the corner and students are expressing their fears about what they will do after school is out.
The fear of not being able to find a job that will support them after they graduate is a concerning thought that many students have. Some students have not even been able to start looking for jobs because of how busy their senior year has been.
“I’m worried that since I am working so hard this semester that I won’t be able to find a job until months later,” Bridgette Nally said. “I have just been so busy with school that I haven’t had any time to look.”
Bridgette mentioned that she is nervous because she believes her student loans are going to build up due to not having a job.
“I’m afraid that my student loans are just going to skyrocket and I am never going to be able to find the end of the bill,” Bridgette said.
Many students have been able to look for jobs and have sent their resume out to many job prospects. However, they are forced to wait for a call back because the position they applied for is not open at the time.
“I haven’t found a job yet. I’ve been looking for police jobs but none of the academies are open this time of year. So I just have to wait around for the academies to open and try there,” Dillon Koening said.
Students struggling to find jobs are now working with the Career Services office at Texas State. Career Services is offering their assistance to students who are looking for job advice and guidance.
