Point Park University Job Fair
Thanks to the Career Development Center at Point Park University, many students had the opportunity to discover possible career opportunities at the Annual Internship and Job Fair.
"We really want the students to have the chance to meet the employers in hopes of lining up future jobs or internships," Director of Career Development, Angela Scaramucci said.
Over one-hundred employers filled the gym looking to spark the interest of Point Park students in their search for future employment. Maureen Brady, a Coordinator for Wish Radio, has attended Point Park job fairs and has witnessed career opportunities come alive herself.
"I have been attending these job fairs for two-years now and we have had multiple students come from Point Park to intern with us," Brady said. Some of these have stayed with us and become full-time employees."
First time goers of the job fair were excited to have a shot at discovering where their future careers may lie.
"This is one of the best job fairs I have ever been to," said Point Park student, Ronnie Bonilla. "I have always wanted to work for the Pittsburgh Steelers and today I had the chance to apply for an internship with them."
Olivia Barnett is one of the successes of Point Parks job fairs. Attending the job fair last year led Olivia to find employment at Wish Radio, where she was once just an intern. This year, she is on the other side of the booth, looking to hire interns.
"I think these job fairs are great for students." said Barnett. "I attended the job fair and now I work for Wish, the company I once interned for."
Although this years job fair is already over, students should be aware that there will be another job fair in the spring. For those students wishing to find leads to a successful career can have a chance to do so at the next fair. To find out more about the spring job fair, students should keep up with the Career Development Center at Point Park.
