Nathan Gentry's
INTERNSHIP PORTFOLIO
This semester has been a great semester in terms of education and experience. I decided to choose a non-traditional internship that I figured would be most beneficial to my career. My internship was with Chandler Prude, the University's Photographer/Marketing Coordinator. My goal at the start of the semester was to improve my knowledge in photography of course, but also get a more in-depth experience in my career path. My goal is to one day become a media based photographer. Shooting photo's for news outlets, or media sources, while also contibuting some of my writing skills that I have obtained over the years at Texas State. My ultimate dream, is to become a sports photographer; primarily an nba photographer.
What I learned over the past few months with Chandler, is that I need to be flexible and open minded. Also, to learn from other photographers. I need to get out in the real world, and network; hear, and see what other photographer's are doing in the industry. Chandler also gave me vaulable critique's. Telling me where I need to improve, and also where I need to continue what I am doing in some aspects of my work. I shot a lot the Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer and some Football game this semester for the school. After shooting the photo's, I would meet with Chandler. That is when he would give me the forementioned critiques. I feel that after each critique, my photography imrpoved in various ways. Chandler also drilled into me the importance of having a clean website. Many of our meeting's consisted of him telling me how I need to clean up, or change sections of my website. It took me a while to understand what he meant, but I think I am finally on the right track. My website is much cleaner than it ever has been.
Below, I have a lot of the work I have done this semester for Chandler, Texas State and also for the individual players. I have also included my Journal, which showcases some of the news release's, web stories and more. Take time to check out work, and provide feedback where you believe feedback is due.
