The Red Door
Open It and You Will Find Help
As we walk throughout the city of Pittsburgh each day, we pass by many people- businessmen, construction workers, law enforcement, students and many other individuals in different situations. For the most part, everyone we pass seems to be in relatively good spirits. However, there are individuals that we unconsciously pass up. These individuals are often neglected and completely unnoticed. We call these people, the homeless, needy, poor and many other labels. What we fail to see in these people is that the individuals we attach these labels to are actually just like us. They require food, water, shelter, community and most of all acknowledgment. Sadly, due to the forlorn situation they are in, many of us have decided to avoid their needs.
When hope seems to be lost, there is a place that takes into account all the needs that these individuals have been devoid of. This place is called The Red Door. The Red Door is a non-profit organization, serving anyone whom may be battling an unfavorable lifestyle. Whether you are black or white, male or female, young or old, The Red Door identifies you as someone who is equal to all. There is nothing more important to The Red Door than providing these individuals, dealing with hardships, the essential necessities to put them at ease and in a more liveable situation. It can something as small as a pair of gloves, a bag of sandwiches, or even a simple conversation, if someone needs it, The Red Door will do anything in their power to get it to them. It is important that we acknowledge and get the word out about The Red Door for what they do for these people living in the rough conditions they are in.
