There’s a New Bar In Town
By Nathan Gentry
A new bar announces that they are close to opening their doors to San Marco’s beer connoisseur’s by the end of March.
The Growling Bar, which will be located on the corner of North L-B-J, will be offering Texas State students a different type of beer drinking experience than other bars in town. In fact, this bar won’t even be offering commonly consumed beers like Lonestar, Coors and Miller Light. The owner Raymond Muenoz mentioned that they will only sell Texas craft beers from local brewery’s.
“We are only presenting Texas beer, and nothing but Texas beer. And not to put them down, but we will never have a can of Lonestar or Shiner in our bar,” said Raymond.
Raymond mentioned that nearly all of the beers they sell cannot be found in any other bar in the world. That’s how close to home the Growling will be. The image that the Growling wants to give off is that they are all about community, and creating friendships through beer amongst that community.
“We are going to have craft beer from people you want to meet, people you can meet, whose hand you can shake; that own or run brewery’s from all regions of Texas,” said Raymond. “It’s all about love and community.”
San Marco’s being so close to several small batch breweries’, means there is plenty of people who know about the beverages the Growling will be offering. Beer enthusiast are happy to know that a bar which will provide a hometown feel is finally coming to town.
“I am a someone who takes pride in drinking a beer that comes from a small town that many people may have never heard of,” said Ronnie Bonilla. It’s also nice to know that this bar focuses on bringing the beer drinking community together.”
The Growling is set to open before the month of March is over and will be offering updates on its progress. To view these updates and learn more about the Growling you can visit their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thegrowlingsanmarcos/
