Nathan Gentry is a visual artist and writer who primarily works with the photographic medium and is interested in highlighting the relationship humans have between each other, as well as their relationship with the world in which they live in. and how they affect each other. Exposing the way in which the living world interacts through communication and physical use is a common visual portrayal that Nathan intends to create through photographic processes. His work often requires experimentation and manipulation in order to create the communicative experience that is often personified in real life.
In 2016, Nathan earned his Bachelors degree in Electronic Media with a minor in Photography at Texas State. After obtaining his undergraduate degree, Nathan moved to Pittsburgh where he obtained a duel Masters Degree in Digital Media as well as Documentary Specialization. Upon completion of his masters programs, Nathan branched out to make work in his new hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. There, he continues to explore and develop new practices in which he can create photographic works through new processes, while serving as the Artist in Residence at The Leonardo Museum.
Nathan has presented his work in many parts of his home state of Texas, but has also extended his presentation to over ten states within the US. Currently, his project 53% can be seen on permanent display at The Exhibit Gallery on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Meanwhile, his latest project, A.D.D. (another.damn.distraction.) is traveling the United States and can be seen in multiple galleries amongst many cities. Additionally, his projects A.D.D., and Our Planet have traveled internationally throughout Italy and Germany.
His most recent achievements have been his exhibitional presentations through international selection. Work from his most recent project, "A.D.D. (another.damn.distraction)", as well as selections from his collection "Our Planet" have been invited to four museums throughout Italy for solo and group exhibitions and two in Germany. His most recent project was finalized as of August 2020, as he released his second published book, a book of poetry and photography called, "A Vision for Unspoken Words."
